Barrack Obama: Agent of Change

Lloyd Gavin
As a man on the streets, I pen these words to those in lofty positions guiding the fate of the Obama campaign as my perspective on the happenings in the streets.

Experience to be Commander-in-Chief

When this grenade is launched, seldom have I heard this attack effectively answered. I offer this view as seed to formulate a better strategy.

Experience is not a requirement of the Constitution. It is limited to age, citizenry and the explicit oath Constitution of the United States of America.

The presidency is about leadership among leaders. A president surrounds himself with people who are capable and gifted in assessments of vital interest to the country. The dynamic of the presidency is played out during the solution of problems when experts brief, present viable options and their consequences to him, argue the stage their options sets, and then allows him to choose. As problems are often new for a recently elected President, experience is not a valuable attribute. It's wise judgment when deciding under uncertainty.

The grenade of "inexperience" should be answered by recalling Mr. Obama's stance against a war, agreed to have been unwise having proved corrosive to the economic and spiritual health of this nation, was judged incorrectly by his opponents while not subject to the pressure of a 3 AM call, but while a part of the debate of the evidence and merits of the war action.

Guilt By Association

I refer to a piece appearing on Associatedcontent.com by one who attempts to make a case that Mr. Obama is racist by association. The writer refers to the candidate's church and his relation to his pastor who gave an achievement award to Minister Louis Farrakhan.

Jesus, the focus of Christianity, sought those considered the outcast of his society; in fact he admitted one into his inner circle, Matthews. By the argument of the writer guilt by association should stain Jesus. History clearly demonstrated that the "guilt by association" argument is dangerous one to launch when we consider the effect of Jesus' life on the world.

There are people within this society who have chosen to work among the dispossessed within this society. For some, this is not a job but a calling. Should I conclude " by association" these people are flawed?

The answer is no because these people are agents of change.

Agents of Change

History gives to the world agents of change to guide us to a useful and productive life. These special people come onto life's stage without experience following a higher dictate for the betterment of mankind. They arouse large crowds and people adopt their positions knowing they reflect their own values and desires. Agents of change are best known from afar, through history. They are recognized as true by their willingness to take unpopular stances at difficult times and the litmus test of attracting large crowds of people who willingly surrendering a previous existence in the hope of a better life. By these latter tests, they are presently measured.

A short list of agents of change includes Jesus, Mother Theresa, Mohandas Gandhi, Pope John XXIII, Martin Luther, Martin Luther King Jr., Queen Elizabeth I, Steven Jobs and Steve Wozniak, Bill Gates, Fred Smith, and I submit Barrack Obama.

    Lloyd,
This is a good article, however I understand where you taking this Agents of Change. Let me say none of the people you mentioned could ever be compared to Jesus. Jesus was the Son of God, the Messiah, Holy he is. It is good that you admire Obama, but he does not show that he have a conviction for anything, but to do what the status quo says. Martin Luther King Jr. was going against unjust laws, Obama is not going against anything he is just wanting to make history as the first black something. When you are an Agent of Change it should show that there is a conviction in ones life or belief, it is not there. I tell you I understand the Agent of Change because it is about to take place, sooner than what most people think. Some Agent of Change can be enticed with wicked inventions and ideologies. We are not to look for Agents of Change to come, but we are to obey God in chosing our leaders who stay with the word of God. We should never put Agent of Change over us when they believe
