The week kicks off with a book raffle. If you are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the latest of J.K.Rowling's books you can register at the front desk to win your very own copy! The raffle is free to enter, but only one entry per person is allowed.
Later in the week the library is holding a free magic show for children in the children's area. And this is not just a magic show, it is actually a "Revlak School of Magic and Wizardry" demonstration. Children and families can watch magical acts executed before their eyes and maybe even learn a few tricks of their own.
If you are an aspiring wizard you'll definitely want to attend the First years' potion class. You'll learn how to actually make some magical concoctions in this fun class. Refreshments will be offered too - although we hope you won't have to drink any potions!
The most essential offering during "Magic Week" is the NEWT review course. This is a wonderful refresher course to help you remember all the characters, backgrounds and events that have taken place in each of the previous books. A most helpful class for those who will soon be reading "Harry Potter and the Deathy Hollows". Head Girl Samantha will be at the library to guide the discussions and help everyone remember why we love this series.
And finally, have you heard of Tasseography? In honor of wizardry and magic the library will be offering a Divination Class to help everyone learn the ancient art of tea leaf reading. Learn how to see into the future through tealeaf reading and other arts. Even if Harry and the other wizards haven't used tea leaves, this class is sure to be a lot of fun.
For more information please contact the library. The Woods Memorial Library is located on Pleasant Street on the Common in Barre and can be reached at 978-355-2533 or on the internet at www.barrelibrary.org.
