Baseball in the Bronx: Yankee Stadium

What an Amazing Atmosphere

unknown
Located in New York City, the highest populated in the United States, is a historical town most famous for its baseball team. The Bronx, the home of Yankee Stadium, is perhaps the most legendary sports arena in the history of mankind. The New York Yankees, also known as "The Bronx Bombers", have been playing in this stadium for nearly a century. Their success and talent has earned them 26 World Series championships, proving to be one of the most successful franchises. The feeling of being at Yankee Stadium, whether it be in the 1st inning of a meaningless game during the regular season, or the bottom of the 9th inning inning with the World Series title on the line, is one that you can't explain or understand until you experience it for yourself.

When once first enters the stadium, and looks out onto the field, that site alone can send chills up your spine. For decades, and to this very day, history is being made on that field. The first and only player to pitch a perfect game in a World Series, home run races between Babe Ruth, Roger Maris, Mickey Mantle, and the Yankees winning 4 out of 5 World Series from the year 1996 to 2000 are among some of the famous events to occur on that field. Out over the centerfield wall, called "Monument Park", hang plaques and retired numbers of the most elite players to ever put on the Yankee Uniform.

Before the game starts, and the National Anthem is sung, there is no other place in the world that is most proud of America's favorite past time. The voice of Bob Sheppard as he announces the starting line up is heard, as it has been heard by millions of people for half a century. As a game starts and the first pitch is thrown, the overwhelming roar from the loyal Yankee fans creates a sense of excitement in the atmosphere. If a big play occurs during the game, they can get so loud that you cannot even hear yourself talk. Of course, food is essential when it comes to watching sports. Although pricy, a hotdog, pretzel, pizza, and a Large Coke are totally worth your money when experiencing a day in Yankee Stadium. Yankee fan, or not, watching a game in the Bronx is a moment of your life that you will never forget.
