Baseball Gifts for Baseball Lovers

If there's a young baseball player in your life you probably think that gift giving is fairly simple, right? With the Internet and so many sport stores catering to equipment and gifts, shopping should be a breeze. However, unless the recipient has already expressed their preference for a specific gift, a baseball related gift could be a little harder to come by than you might think. The serious player will already have balls, bats, and gloves, so where does that leave you? Here are some guidelines and suggestions for purchasing a great baseball related gift.

Personalize Your Gift

Who doesn't love a gift that was literally made for them, with their name on it? The Everything Baseball Catalog offers a great large personalized baseball rug that starts at $99. Sure, it's a little pricey, but it's a great addition to a bedroom and the parents will love anything that keeps the mess off of their floor!

Go Whimsical

Even a non-baseball lover will love these fun shoes from Zazzle that can be changed to reflect the recipient's favorite team colors! At $60, they're a total steal and are practical (who doesn't need shoes?) as well as practically guaranteed to elicit laughter when they're opened. Don't be turned off by the description because they're labeled as women's shoes. Keds is a great brand of shoe for men and women, boys and girls.

Educational

Some of my favorite gifts are educational, as well as entertaining and a baseball themed gift isn't any different. There are thousands of books out there about baseball in general, the history of the game, players, and teams. One book, that Amazon offers, is great for any baseball fan: Watching Baseball Smarter: A Professional Fan's Guide for Beginners, Semi-Experts, and Deeply Serious Geeks by Zach Hample. At $10.98 it is inexpensive enough that it can be combined with another gift for the ultimate in the baseball giving experience. Which brings me to...

Gift Baskets

For a great, memorable gift, you can't go wrong with either making or purchasing a themed gift basket. Gift Basket 4 Kids offers a great themed basket for $45.99, featuring stationary, inflatables, and coin jar, but there are also ways to make one yourself for less money. Let the dollar stores and online stores like Oriental Trading Company be your friend as you purchase a small basket and fill it with popcorn, a keychain, small figurine, pack of cards, stickers, and a larger item such as a book. Tie the paper over the basket in your favorite team colors and you'll be giving a truly memorable gift!
