Baseball in October

Donna Cavanagh
It is a magical time of year
The baseball playoffs have begun
Fans prepare their warring stance
Until that final trophy is won

This year, the Phillies face the Reds
The Giants meet the Braves
The Yanks look to down the Twins
The Rangers hope to sting the Rays

I am sorry, but I am biased
I believe my Phils will earn the ring
Halladay has already pitched a no-hitter
And relentless is the pounding the Phils' bats bring

My husband is a loyal Yankees fan
In October, my house is an interesting sight
Divided into blue and red
Even the dogs get involved in the fight

One wears Team Yankees
The other proudly dons her Phils gear
My daughter stays away from home
Until the championship game is near

A Yanks and Phils world series
Is way too difficult to go through again
It would be much better for us all
If the Phils played anyone but those Yanks in the end

Then, the house would be peaceful
As my husband would then wear Phillies pride
He would have to; it is not an option
If he hopes to sleep inside

WHAT! I grew up in New York. The Yankees are getting old, I think the collective age of the team has to be over 2,000 years old. But they can still beat young whippersnappers - aka the Phillies

LOL, I hope anyone but the Yankee's win since my rockies didn't make it :(. Halliday is a hometown boy, so I can root for the Phillies. :)

Huh! The old Dog-House for Hubby...You are really funny. Good poem. It is definitely not a no hitter since it is hit'n on all bases. :-) God bless. ℳ.ℋ.
