The first thing you want to do when feeling any kind of depression, or sadness is identify the cause. Note that there doesn't always have to be a direct event that has caused your depression, but for some, the passing of a friend or beloved pet, having something change for the worse, or a case of being frustrated with daily life can all be causes of depression and sadness that are identifiable.
Once you have identified the cause, you can go about the process of making things better, by coming to terms with the cause of your sadness and depression. Realizing that some things have to happen, and things aren't always as bad as they seem are great clauses to help you come to terms. There are also external ways of coming to terms with your sadness, through crying and letting out your sorrow. It has been proven that emotional crying chemically makes you feel better, and eliminates up to thirty percent of your sadness through tears There is also the alternative of talking it out with someone, there are many ways to come to terms with depression and sadness, all you have to do is pick the one or ones that make you feel most comfortable.
Once you have come to terms with what is making you sad you can go about changing anything that you can, to make yourself happy again, or make things more bearable. This includes anything from changing the style of a room, once a loved one has passed away that used to occupy it, and removing their things from direct site, to writing out how you feel in a daily journal. There are many methods you can utilize to help you come to terms with what is bothering you, some involve the changing as much as you possibly can, while others involve simply altercations to your daily routine.
Alternative to changing things in your life, a key aspect to helping you overcome sadness and depression is being able to fully express your feelings. This includes anything from talking things out, to making artistic drawings and writing music/poetry to help you overcome your daily struggles. If you have tried forms of expression, and they have failed to ease any sadness and depression you have to cope with, you can check into the effects of music, and use variances of songs to help change your mood, and bring yourself into a happier state.
Overall if you are suffering from sadness, and basic depression, just follow this method and basic techniques to help snap yourself out of it, and get back to a happier you.
