Choosing a Faucet for the Kitchen
Before you can go out and select a faucet, it's important to stop and ask yourself a few questions. Most importantly, what is the style in your kitchen? If you're not interested in holding an overall style, then it's perfectly fine to go out and purchase the cheapest faucet you can find just to get it over with, however most people prefer to choose a faucet that appeals to them, fits the style of their kitchen and of course, is of a relatively good quality.
Once you know what style you're looking for (examples of styles include traditional, modern and contemporary,) you can start looking into what kind of features you want in your faucet. Do you want one handle or two? Do you want a shiny, polished faucet or a matte-finish or brushed finish fixture? Do you want a spray nozzle or do you wish to have one of those modern kitchen faucets with the pull-out spray? These are all important things to consider when choosing a kitchen faucet.
What Are Some Examples of the Different Types of Faucets?
As stated before, there are several different styles available in terms of a kitchen faucet. Here are a few different examples to give you an idea of what's available today.
There are two basic types of faucets: single handle and double handle. Within these two basic types, there are hundreds of variations in terms of style, color and finish. For example, this single handle faucet with a pullout spray nozzle features an oil-rubbed bronze appearance with traditional styling. Of course, you may prefer the look of this dual handle kitchen faucet with contemporary styling and a polished finish.
There are also kitchen faucets that filter the water for you, rather than having to use a filtering water pitcher or having to buy bottles of water. It may cost a little more upfront, but if you're regularly buying bottled water or replacing filters in a pitcher, it may actually save you money in the long run and pay for itself.
Looking to be unique? Consider installing a wall-mounted kitchen faucet.
These of course, are just a few examples of the many thousands of different faucets available.
