Does Your Website Design Make You Sales?

Many small business owners focus on designing pretty websites instead of building profitable websites. When designing a successful website for your small business, there a few basic things you need to include.

Following just a few basic principles will help to establish credibility and quickly and easily increase sales. Credibility will bring you the most important thing of all: trust. Would you agree, people buy from those that they trust?

To build this credibility and trust, here are some important sections to include in your website. If you think about it, these are some of the things that you probably have posted inside your office or store. Just apply those same principles to a website.

About Information

Tell the world who you are. Share a little personal, heart-warming story about your employees. Tell visitors what your business does. You're not trying to make a sales pitch here, but let visitors know what are the benefits of choosing your business. Why are you unique?

Contact Information

Customers want to know that they can contact you with any questions before or after the sale.
Include business name, website name, email address, physical address, phone number, and hours of operation. Include a support desk web address or at least a central email for answering questions or receiving praise.

Frequently Asked Questions

You've probably heard this called a FAQ page. Just as the name implies, go ahead and answer some questions you feel will get asked frequently about your business or its products and services. Visitor will be thankful and impressed that they're questions have been answered without them even having to ask.

Include Testimonials

Go ahead, let people know what your satisfied customers had to say. Toot your own horn a little. Be proud of your accomplishments. People base their trust on what others have already said.

3rd Party Endorsements

Go ahead, toot your horn some more. Build trust by showing off your professional memberships.
Add the verification logos you receive from your credit card processor. Let people know they are safe with you.

Privacy Policy Statement

Google the words "privacy policy" and you can find lots of free content to use for this. Basicly, this states that you don't use name, email, phone numbers, etc. for unethical purposes. It's also a good idea to include the fact that you don't collect information from children.

Terms and Conditions of Using Your Website

This is otherwise known as Terms of Service or TOS. Let visitors know that by using your website, they agree to act in an appropriate manner.

Add these basic sections when you build a website for your small business. You'll be on your way to a website that builds trust and makes sales.

  • Basic principles will help to establish credibility and quickly and easily increase sales.
  • Credibility will bring you the most important thing of all: trust.
  • Website sections that build credibility and trust are similar to the policies posted in your office.
Just as you display credentials and policies in you store or office, also display similar items on your website. Online business can be very similar to offline business, at times. Social network sites can also increase credibility and trust.
