Basically, It's Just a Stick

It is a small slender stick.
It feels round, hard and smooth.
It dances and rolls when it's dropped.
It really has no taste or smell.
It gives voice to our thoughts.
It's needed by freedom fighters,
but it's feared by tyrants.
It immortalizes our thoughts.
It keeps our fingers limber.
It's cylindrical with a pointy tip,
But, basically, it's just a stick.
