First, with a walk-in closet, there is always the challenge of organizing the space efficiently. In this case, a closet organizer can be helpful in maximizing the usable space. When choosing organizers keep in mind that the closet design will help dictate which are best.
Another walk-in closet organizational issue to consider is that you may be able to utilize the wardrobe doors for items such as shoe racks and other over the door storage items. The type of organizers you can use in your walk-in closet over the door depend on whether or not you have a traditional wardrobe door, bifold closet doors, or sliding doors. Sliding doors may not be suited for this type of storage so keep that in mind while designing your walk-in closet.
The possibility that insects such as moths will harm your clothing is also a concern for your closet. Some people choose to keep away the bugs with mothballs, others with sachets. Another option to consider is the cedar wardrobe. This walk-in closet style is a cedar wardrobe. Cedar is a wood that helps repel insects and is a lot more pleasant than moth balls.
Lighting is another consideration. Since a walk-in closet is basically a miniature room, you can no longer rely on light sources that are outside of the walk-in closet to allow you to see your items. In this case, ample lighting needs to be installed. If the walk-in closet is large, more than one light source is needed. The goal is to illuminate the entire closet. This will help it remain organized and make items easy to find.
If you do have a walk-in closet, make sure that it is well organized, well lighted, and free from bugs and other insects. If you have a choice you can design your own closet to suit your needs. California closets are another option. If the closet came with your home, you will need to adapt your organizing and lighting to suit its existing size.
