Basketball Conditioning: Four Unwritten Rules of Public Exercise Classes

John Smith
A lot of basketball players have turned to public classes in order to work out on their basketball conditioning. However, a lot of these players do not know the proper etiquette of attending these public exercise classes since they are new to them. While a lot of things are permitted in these classes, there are several unwritten rules that you should be familiar with, including, choosing a class that is appropriate for your level of fitness, always listening to the instructor, always being on time to the class, and giving other students in the class their own personal space.

One of the most important unwritten rules in basketball conditioning during public exercise classes is to make sure that you choose a class that is appropriate for your skill level. If you're new to conditioning, don't be ashamed to take a beginner class. If you jump right into an advanced class and you are not sure what you are doing, you are not only hurting yourself, but you are being detrimental to the entire class. Oftentimes, they will have to stop what they are doing to explain simple concepts that you could have learned in a beginner class.

Another unwritten rule of public exercise classes for basketball conditioning is to always listen to what the instructor is saying. Sure you might think you know what you're doing, but often times the instructor is teaching you specific tricks or tips that will help you with your exercises. You are paying to attend a class, so you should listen to what the instructor has to say at all times.

Yet another unwritten rule of public exercise classes for basketball conditioning is to always make sure that you are on time for class. If you are constantly showing up late, then you're interrupting the session for other people when you do show up. Oftentimes instructor will then have to stop and catch you up with what the group is doing. This is not a good way to make friends, and if it happens a lot, you may even be asked to leave the class.

Finally, another important unwritten rule of public exercise classes for basketball conditioning is to always make sure to give other participants their own personal space. Just like you, they are there to learn from the instructor, not just socialize with other people. Give them enough room so that they can do their own exercises.
