Basketball Cookie Recipe and Design

S. Morris
I am a fan of basketball, as are many others. I am also a fan of cookies. Though no cookie is like moms, I do have a recipe that all can enjoy. Especially those little ones! My toddler, loves sports and he's my little cookie monster. So making cookies is fun, good, and a bonus when you add sports to it!

Check out this great recipe, design and all the little extras to add:

Basketball Sugar Cookies

What you will need:

Red food color

Blue food color

Four tubes of frosting-blue, green, yellow, and red

Sprinkles- Orange

Cookie Ingredients:
Double Everything

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 large eggs

3/4 cup sugar plus additional sugar for topping

2/3 cup vegetable oil

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 teaspoons cinnamon

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon nutmeg

The Sugar Cookie Recipe is from a recipe card from Grandmas Kitchen. I took certain things out and added things to my liking, to make it my own.

I have a gas stove so I like to take about 20 degrees off of what the recipe calls for, 400 degrees. Roll cookies in some brown sugar and regular sugar. Place a spoon full 2 inches apart. Cook for about eight minutes. Cool and enjoy.

Now for the funnest part. The extras! I like to separate the dough into three bowls. Then I like to keep one bowl regular. The other add in a few drops of red food coloring. Next, add a few drops of blue food coloring into the last bowl. You can add more or less, whatever suites your liking. Doing this gives your children a variety of sugar cookies instead of playing old yellow colored cookies.

Now they can sit at the table with the sprinkles, tubes of frosting, and extra sugar. I like to provide a few cookies I have done, as basketballs. That way they can kind of see what a basketball sugar cookie looks like, kind of different then a regular basketball!

Let them explore their minds and fill their tummies with some yummy basketball sugar cookies!
