Basketball Training: Three Guidelines for Proper Gym Locker Room Etiquette

When not on the court, a lot of basketball players like to do their basketball training and conditioning in a public gym. One thing that these players may be unfamiliar with is proper gym locker room etiquette. Locker rooms are used by just about every person in the gym, so it is important that you treat them with respect so that others can use them. You should treat the gym locker room no different than if you were at home; there is no reason to make a huge mess simply because you won't have to clean it up. Three common guidelines for proper etiquette include, using only one locker so that others have them available, sharing the sinks and mirrors with others, and keeping the shower area clean.

When guidelines remember for proper gym locker room etiquette after you're done with your basketball training is to share the locker area. You shouldn't need to spread all your stuff all over the place and take up multiple lockers. Other people need to use the lockers as well, so choose one and keep all of your stuff inside of it. Don't leave the place a mass when you are done, as it is very inconsiderate for other gym patrons. Additionally, if the gym provides towels, then don't leave them scattered around all over the place in front of the lockers. No one wants to have to pick up after your mess, so take care of yourself.

Another guideline for proper gym locker room etiquette at your dump your basketball training is to take care of the sink area and share it with other patrons. If there is a limited number of sinks available, don't take up a lot of unnecessary time while others are waiting. Additionally, you should clean up after yourself, as it can be very disgusting for the next person if they have to use a filthy sink after you're done.

Finally, another important guideline for proper gym locker room etiquette after you're done with your basketball training is to take care of the shower area and keep it clean. Don't leave things like empty shampoo bottles lying all around, as it is very inconvenient and gross for other guests. Clean up after yourself and all of these problems can be avoided.
