Basketball Wives: Why People Hate the "Meekas" of the World

Season 3 of "Basketball Wives" finds us with Meeka Claxton, wife of former NBA player Speedy Claxton. And wouldn't you know it, the drama has increased triple-fold on the hit VH1 reality show. Shaunie O'Neal's newest addition to the clique is wreaking all sorts of havoc on the program---to the point that she's become Enemy #1. The "basketball wives" certainly have their issues with Meeka, some with good reason. Here's why the "Meekas" of the world seem to get under everyone's skin.

Fighting Your Own Battles

A native New Yorker, Meeka acts tough. But when it comes time for her to express what she really feels about someone, she often says it to someone else. Meeka speaking out of turn on a few occasions was the source of her brawl with Tami in Italy. To further punctuate Tami's point, after the fight, she immediately headed back home to Miami instead of continuing the trip. Later it was discovered that Meeka sued Tami in court over the altercation. People are typically leery of those who talk tough, but then turn tail when troubles arise; cowards are hardly ever revered.

The Queen of Passive Aggressiveness

After her fight with Tami, Meeka writes a heated letter to Shaunie, instead of addressing the continuing issues with Tami. That Meeka chooses to dance around issues instead of addressing the concerned party is what irritates these "basketball wives" the most. No one likes a person who starts trouble by using someone else as a buffer.

The Debbie Downer

During the 6th episode of "Basketball Wives 3" Royce introduces her new boyfriend Brian to Meeka and Suzie. But prior to the meeting, Meeka infers that he is a "smooth operator" and implies that Royce should watch out. Later, after Meeka and Suzie have grilled Brian appropriately, she goes on to say that Royce should be fixed up with someone else. Your friends will have opinions about your love life. But ultimately, raining on your buddy's parade based solely on first impressions is rarely a pleasant move.

The Double Talker

If there is anything that the public hates about politicians, it's all that "double-talking"---the act of saying many things without really conveying any new information. On many occasions, Meeka has confused her cast mates with roundabout talk. This is usually a tactic people use when they are trying to avoid being caught in a lie. Unfortunately, what a person doesn't say is often as telling as what is being said. If you want to look untrustworthy and conniving, simply dance around direct questions you're asked.
