Bat

this.

upside down like a bat
hanging
from gnarled toes
echolocation telling me
why i shouldn't move
walls all around
i don't need eyes to see
in the dark.
there are voices here
loud and laughing
(i am not hearing things;
there are two men in this room
and children in the next)
it sounds like
bright light white
blinking chaos
so
much
sound
my head is shrinking
with each
syllable
i
love
this
i was
invisible
too
visible
i like the eyes
that
see
through
me
they are the talking
pitch like shaking keys
and i
can't
tell.
