Body Scrub
With some oatmeal and a washcloth, you can make your own invigorating body scrub to exfoliate dead skin cells. You can use it in the shower or bath for brightening up your face or your whole body.
Gather one cup of oatmeal, a washcloth, and a rubber band and you are set to go. Place the oatmeal in the center of your washcloth and gather the edges with a rubber band. This makes enough for one-time use. Wet the washcloth and squeeze to release the soothing oatmeal. After you are finished, discard the used oatmeal.
Bath Bombs
Make your own bath bombs with one cup of baking soda, 3 tsp. of citric acid, and 3 tsp. of cornstarch. Add 3 tsp. of almond or canola oil, food coloring, and fragrance and stir. Add all of these ingredients together in a bowl and mix well. The mixture will have the consistency of a rice ball. With this recipe, you should get 6-7 small bath bombs. Let them dry for two days. You can wrap them in plastic wrap and tie with a bow to give as gifts.
Soaking Salts
Make some soaking salts and take the stresses of life away, if for just a short while. Mix 2 1/2 cups of Epsom salts, 1/2 cup sea salt, and 1 cup of baking soda together in a large bowl. Throw in some food coloring and food flavoring for scent and mix together in a measuring cup. Put all ingredients together and mix well. Pour the mixture into a jar. This is good for a relaxing full body soak or a therapeutic foot treatment.
Bubble Bath
You can make your own bubble bath with 2/3 cup water, 1/3 cup soap, and 1 tsp. glycerin. Add some food color and food flavoring for scent, such as fruit peels, flower petals, or extracts. Pour the mixture into a sqeeze bottle and shake thoroughly.
Shower Gel
Mix 1/2 cup water and 1 tsp. gelatin in a measuring cup. Place in your microwave for 60 seconds on the high setting. Stir the mixture with caution. Pour the contents into a mixing bowl and add food color, food flavoring, and 1/2 cup baby shampoo or liquid soap. Pour the contents into a squeeze bottle and refrigerate to let it gel.
Foot Scrub
Mix 1 tsp. clean sand, 1/4 cup Epsom salts, and 1/4 cup sea salt in a bowl. Add in 1 tsp. light oil and 1 tsp. baby shampoo. Mix well and place in a small container. Add bath salts to warm bath water and soak for at least ten minutes. Dry your feet and add foot scrub scrubbing in circular motions.
