Bath and Body Works Anti-Bacterial Moisturizing Hand Soap - Moonlight Path
So Bad that a GUY Had to Review It!
This stuff comes in an 8 fluid ounce bottle and the label says that it includes Green Tea Extract and Shea Butter.
On the overview I said I wanted you to remember ONE word. Now I'm going to add to it for more of a clue: CLUMPS IN THE SINK Read on and you'll be told.
So the label says this includes Shea Butter. A new gimmicky ingredient? I've heard of Shea stadium but not Shea butter. Wikipedia says, Shea nut butter is a slightly greenish or ivory-colored natural fat extracted from fruit of the Shea tree by crushing and boiling. Shea butter is widely used in cosmetics as a moisturizer and an emollient. Shea butter is also edible. It is used as a cooking oil in West Africa, as well as sometimes being used in the chocolate industry as a substitute for cocoa butter. I wouldn't advise eating this stuff, though. BBW says that this soap has a rich lather to soften and sooth dry-hands as it kills germs.
Isn't hand soap just hand soap? Well, kinda of. This stuff does have a pleasant scent. It does stay with you for a short while. Has it made a difference on my rough hands? Uh...nope. As a guy though, I don't really feel I need baby smooth skin anywhere on my body. :-)
Now there are directions on the bottle which I didn't look at until a couple of days ago when I making my little grumblings of, "just WHY did she buy this junk???!" The directions say to Wet hands, work into a rich lather. Rinse well. "Ah!" I thought!!! "So that's the problem!" So I followed the directions and wet my hands FIRST and slowly tried to work into a lather. No luck;
REMEMBER THOSE 4 WORDS? CLUMPS IN THE SINK
Squirt a bit of that stuff in your hands and start working it into a lather. Little clumps of the soap start falling into the sink. They don't just slip and slide down the drain. You have to wipe your hands around the inside of the sink to get all that gunky clumpy soap down the drain or splash water from the faucet around with your hands. It makes a mess. In fact, it's the FIRST hand soap I've ever used which does this. We also are using the BBW Country Apple Moisturizing hand soap which does the same thing.
That's not the only problem. When you get down to about 1/8 of a container left, the tube for the hand pump doesn't reach, so you're having to discard the rest. You really won't be pouring it into another newer container because you'll dislike this soap so much you won't buy it again. It's also too thick to pour out when you need it.
Now try something like Dial hand soap which works into a nice lather quickly and easily. BBW Aromatherapy soaps do the same. So does the BBW Anti-Bacterial Gentle Foaming Hand Soap. But the moisturizing hand soaps just don't do it.
These 8 ounce bottles sell for $5.00, but I did see them on the web site on sale for 5/$15 but even at that, WE won't ever be buying them again.

Post a CommentI love the honesty of your reviews. Great job. :-)
great review as always
Good reporting. Interesting read.
yep ... clumpy is indeed a good word for this stuff
Ewwwwwwwwww
Its nice to see a soap review from a man. Nice job.
HI DAVE YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT THE CLUMPS, SO I CUT BACK TO JUST A DAB,AS IT IS SO HIGHLY CONCENTRATED. WHEN I GOT TO THE END OF MY BOTTLE I ADDED A LITTLE HOT WATER & SHO0K IT UP GOOD, THEN TIPPED THE BOTTLE UPSIDE IN A SMALL SEAL-ABLE BOWL, JUST DIP A FINGER IN FOR WHAT WE NEED. CUTTING BACK ON THE SOAP MADE FOR LESS CLUMPS, AND IF I HAD ANY I JUST TOOK A WASH CLOTH AND WASHED THE SINK OUT, AS WE LIVE ON A FARM AND THE HUBBY ALWAYS HAS THE SINK DIRTY. FUNNY THING A GUY INTRODUCED US TO THE SOAP.
