Bath Ideas for a Romantic Night

Trisha Bartle
Whether it's Valentine's Day, your anniversary, or just a romantic night together, taking a bath with your lover can add a sensual accent to any night. If you are planning just such an occasion, follow the tips below so you can make it as special as possible.

Candles
Although it may be cliché, surrounding the bathtub and counter surfaces with candles is a romantic idea. It adds fragrance and mood lighting to the room. The most affordable way to go about this is to buy a few boxes of tea lights. They are very short candles that are inexpensive and easy to find at any drug store. Try to get at least thirty to really make an impact.

Music
Put on some sensual music to pick up the mood, keeping the stereo far away from the bathtub for safety reasons. Slow rhythm and blues music works best, as well as soft classical music. Try to find a CD that is longer and that has all of the songs needed for the rendezvous. It's definitely ill-advised to keep getting up from the tub to skip tracks or put in a new disc. Consider this when shopping for music.

Bubbles
This seems like an obvious point, but it can be overlooked. Try for a very bubbly mixture that smells sweet. The bubbles should be able to last quite a while without disappearing. If you or your loved one doesn't like bubbles, there are other alternatives. Fake rose petals can be purchased in some stores and online. They look like real petals, but are actually made out of a scented soap. After a while in the water, they dissolve and fragrance it. They can be a romantic and surprising alternative to bubbles.

Items and Accessories
What should you do while in the bathtub? Besides the obvious fooling around which is customary in this situation, there are other things that can be fun. Bring along a loofa or washcloth. Washing each other is sure to be a romantic and sensual endeavor. Another fun thing to add is a glass or cup. Fill the glass up with the warm scented bath water and slowly pour it on your mate. Trust me, this feels great. For the more adventurous couple, some waterproof vibrating toys are a great idea. Make sure it's waterproof, though, or you may waste your money.

Refreshments
If your loved one likes to imbibe alcohol, provide some wine or champagne that can be sipped and refilled from the tub. If you want to add something extra special, drop a few slices of strawberries to the bottom of the champagne glass. This is an exciting and romantic treat.

Above all, be creative and know your partner. Do what you know they would like the best. Keep the water warm and your moods high. Have fun having a romantic night in the bath tub.
