Bathroom Tile Patterns You Can Install Yourself, to Express Yourself

RONYAE
Other than being the best way to express yourself, installing tiles in your bathroom can be a cost-saving project. A design that is commonly seen in homes would be the diamond pattern. But a twist to the diamond pattern, would be to combine the checkerboard pattern with it-Fabulous! With this new, creative expression, you'll have the choice of two colors. And as a hint, try using colors that coordinate with your colors of the bath utensils and accents of your bathroom.

Now that you have the tile pattern, you can move along to choosing the tiles to be installed. Sometimes, the tiles can be in either non-porus or porus material; the non-porus is more suitable. And ceramic would be the material of choice in most; it's durable, easy to clean and economical. You find sales giving you up to 50% off of your tile selections sometimes at Home Depot. A note of caution: Be sure to get your measurements before you go shopping for your tile! Nothing stinks worse than getting there, picking out your tile and finding out that you don't know how much to get for your bathroom. Yikes!

Make a checklist of the tools and supplies you will need to install the tiles; make safety the first thing on your list.

Now, on to the expression. Making the diamond pattern combined with the checkerboard pattern is simple as a 1-2-3 step; you'll be alternating the colors, and positioning the tiles to the shape of a diamond.

Okay, time to get your hands dirty, and come out with a piece of art.

Knowing that you have the accurate amount of tile needed, tools and supplies that will help you with your project, and the drive and motivation, the first tile you place will be determined by the measurements and tiles. This means that you can begin where the space permits you to apply one complete line of tiles.

Your first line should have the tiles in a straight row; All tiles touching diagonally, with colors alternating. When you start the second row, be sure that your colors remain in the alternating pattern, and will fit diagonally. After a few more rows, you will begin to see your checkerboard pattern come to life.

Concerning your awkward areas where a full tilewill not fit, take your cut pieces and fill in those areas. Here, you may wish to use a solid tile, or you may take a smaller cut of each solid tile and create another checkerboard pattern. The design is up to your expression-you can design and express-away!
