Located at 201 Community College Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70806, Baton Rouge Community College admits graduates of a state-approved high school, individuals currently have a General Equivalency Diploma (GED). Further, through the concurrent enrollment program at Baton Rouge Community College, high school students who are at least 16 years of age may be register for a maximum of two college courses to be taken simultaneously with their high school courses.

Baton Rouge Community College offers the following two-year degree programs: Accounting Technology Associate of Applied Science (AAS), Business Associate of Science (AS), Business Technology Associate of Applied Science (AAS), Business Technology Certificate, Computer Information Science (AS), Criminal Justice (AS), Emergency Management Certificate, Entertainment Technology Associate of Applied Science (AAS), General Science Associate of Science (AS), General Studies Associate (AGS), General Studies Certificate, Liberal Arts Associate of Arts (AA),Nursing Associate of Science (ASN), Process Technology Associate of Applied Science (AAS),Science Technology Associate of Applied Science (AAS), and Teaching Associate of Science (AS).

Baton Rouge Community College offers a variety of financial aid options including:

Federal Pell Grants designed to assist students in pursuing their undergraduate degree, awarded to students taking a minimum of 9 hours at Baton Rouge Community College with a maximum award for the 2009-2010 year of $5,350.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) which is provided to students who demonstrate a calculated financial need, and are based on the availability of funds and the student's demonstrated financial need. The minimum and maximum awarded by Baton Rouge Community College for the academic year are $100 and $1000.

Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG) provided by Baton Rouge Community College awards up to $750 for the first year of undergraduate study and up to $1,300 for the second year of undergraduate study to full-time students who are receiving a Federal Pell Grant and who maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0.

Federal Work-Study Program (FWS) at Baton Rouge Community College provides jobs, which average 15 hours per week and range from clerical worker to research assistant to community service, for students who have documented financial need and who wish to earn part of their educational expenses while they are attending school.

Louisiana's Tuition Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS) at Baton Rouge Community College is a comprehensive program of state scholarships managed through Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance (LOSFA).

    Community colleges are often overlooked. This article should help those in and around Baton Rouge make good education decisions.

    Good review of the local community college. I think it is important for students to consider community college for the first two years, especially with the economy in the toilet.
