Baton Rouge is known for it's Hot BBQ, Gumbo, Entertainment and Blues Festivals. I was lucky to attend one and it was the best I've ever attended. The day was hotter than ever, the food was the best ever and the music was fantastic.

The fest started as the sun was going down and the crowd had settled down for the show. Fest fans grab seats wherever they could find them. I found a cool spot under an old oak tree and watched as the first artist took the stage.

For hours I danced to the music and ate good old fashion BBQ ribs. The artist that caught my eye was Kisha Nukkie Miller. I didn't know what to expect because she's the youngest blues singer I've seen. Well, her strong husky voice showed me what she was working with. She took the stage with hurricane Southern force. She sang "Same Changes" and the crowd went wild. I never heard the song before but before her last note I knew the chorus well. The song was about people in bad relationships going over the same things again and again. I and everyone out there could relate to that so the song was favored by all. As she sang the scorned woman song of 2009, "I Bust The Windows Out Your Car", all the ladies stood up and applauded. If you never heard that song before, its about a scorned woman taking revenge on her lover. The title of the sound actually says it all. A male fan loved it so much, he gave her a rose at the end of her performance.

As night approached the crowd got thicker and fans were still hungry for more music and more food. The DJ played Cupid Shuffle and everybody hit the stage to do the famous Bus Stop. I was in the middle of the floor dancing off beat and I did not care because I was having the time of my life. If you do not know how to do the Bus Stop you better learn before you go to a Blues Fest. Old people, young people and kids of all races joined together for a peaceful night of fun. Little we know that 3 blocks away, a guy was gunned downed in front his door.

It would not Louisiana if the last song was not a second line tune. When the DJ played Feet Do Not Fail Me Now, I was up again in the middle of the floor. This time everybody was dancing all over the place, even on the light polls. One guy was on the floor doing the fish all around the place. It was crazy and I will be at the next one.
