To begin, there is a single player and multiplayer. The single player has no story or campaign, it's pretty much like online play (which I will describe shortly), only you play against bots, or computer controlled characters. You pick a level, pick a difficulty and play. In my opinion, the single player mode is for getting used to the controls and game play. Once you have a hang of everything, it's time to go online.
Online multiplayer is where this game really shines. Servers can hold up to 64 players, and the maps scale to fit the amount of people in the server. There are two sides to play on: USMC (Marines) and MEC (Terrorists). The server will usually put you on the side with the least amount of people to keep it fair. When you start, you have to choose a "class." There is a sniper class, a medic class, an assault class, and so on. Each one has their own special properties, and they each vary in some way. Depending on how you want to play and what tactics your team might be using will ultimately determine what class you want to pick. Each time you die, you can pick a new class, or stick with the same one.
There is only one game type, which is pretty much like a "capture" game mode. You have to capture flags around the map, simply by standing near it, and if your team controls more than half the flags on the level, the other team's points start going down. Once a team's points reach zero, they lose. Flags can be captured by a team, then re-captured by the other team, going back and forth. Tactics are key if you want a good team.
Now that you have a general idea of how the game works, it's time to explain just how fun it really is. If you're a fan of first person shooters, this game is for you. The only downside to it is that you need a very good computer to be able to run it smoothly. If you do, you'll spend hours playing it and the time will fly by. There are also vehicles online, which play a major role because the maps can become big and walking might not be a good option.
On to the graphics! Like I said in the previous paragraph, you need a good PC to run this game smoothly, and if you have one, the game will look amazing. It has been out for a year or so now, but graphics are top-notch. Sounds are the same. They all seem pretty realistic to me, and I only have onboard sound (no soundcard) so I'm sure they can sound better.
In Conclusion, if you're a fan of shooters, this game is for you. Just make sure you have a good computer and you're set. Go out and buy it, and I'll see you online!
