The year is 2142. Earth has entered another ice age. The only habitable land is in North Africa. With all of the Earth covered in ice, most people will die from cold or starvation. You must choose between two powerful military forces, the European Union or the Pan Asian Coalition. Your job is to take out the other military force and take the only land left on the planet for yourselves!
Now how the heck do you do this? Well with an all out war and total chaos! Battlefield 2142 does this beautifully. You use futuristic weapons, EMP grenades, huge walking Mechs, tanks, airships, drones, and more! While armed to the teeth, you also must coordinate your attacks, defend, use stealth, and try to upgrade your player to make him a much better fighter. All of this is done across huge maps full of highly detailed environments. You will fight these wars on land and in the sky and with either infantry or vehicle combat.
Upgrading your player is a little bit different from previous versions of the game. In Battlefield 2142, there are only 4 classes. There used to be 7! However, these 4 classes are more customizable and flexible than the previous game's classes. These classes can be customized in over 1500 different combinations so that you can make the ultimate battle soldier that meets your needs. Battlefield 2142 also has tons more unlockables and upgrades that you will receive as you progress through the game.
A new change to Battlefield 2142 is the introduction of the new Titan mode. In this mode you must take over the enemy Titan airship/battleship. This is easier said than done. But you will just have to see for yourself! Conquest mode does make a return, however, as it is a favorite in the other Battlefield series. In this mode you must take over and hold several location points on the map while keeping the enemy at bay.
The graphic of Battlefield 2142 are nice to look at. All of the environments have a realistic feel about them. The voice acting is superb. Some of it is even in foreign languages! The actual gaming experience is quite enthralling. How could anyone not enjoy reining destruction left and right? However, to get the most out of the game, you should play it online with several people. Don't worry, the squad and commander roles have returned!
Battlefield 2142 is available for your PC. It has an ESRB rating of T for teen. This is because the game features violence. For those of you who need some cheats, a strategy guide is available.
