Battlefield Ships Out July 9

Today EA (Electronic Arts) announced that they would be shipping out their new game Battlefield 1943 on July 9. Battlefield 1943 will be available for download through the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network. This downloadable game will cost $15 or 1200 MS Points.

Battlefield 1943 is the latest installment of the famous Battlefield series and this downloadable game takes the series back to its roots for classic first-person shooter action. The developers plan to release four maps with the download which will be revamped versions of their four most famous maps from the first Battlefield game Battlefield 1942. Along with new textures and better layouts, these maps have also been improved with the Frostbite engine which allows for destructible terrain. Now walls, barricades, and hiding spots can be destroyed constantly changing the battlefield and keeping players on their feet. EA has also confirmed that the game will be able to run games of up to 24 players for endless hours of fun. EA also has plans on releasing community challenges with the game which will pit players against each other for awesome prizes.

EA is certain that Battlefield 1943 will, "change consumer expectations of what a downloadable game can be. By offering Frostbite's next generation destruction technology with a full Vehicle Warfare FPS multiplayer experience at a mere 560MB, Battlefield 1943 sets a new standard. Our goal is to blow people away with a fully accessible, retail-calibre game for veteran Battlefield fans and shooter fans alike to enjoy for only $15." EA also announced that the game would become available for PC users in September of this year. For only $15, EA has loaded this game to really pack a punch.
