Baucus Plan Prematurely Drives the First Nail into the Democratic Coffin

Baucus Plan Ensures that Obama Will Be a One-term President Only

Baucus may think he is smart but that smartness has already dealt a fatal blow to his Democratic party's base the middle-class.

His health care plan ensures that President Obama will be a one-term President only and that his party will lose all the legislative advantages it enjoys on Capitol Hill.

The insurance industry is trying hard to hide its glee, so also the pharmaceutical and health care sectors. All their stocks went up. They could not have got this bonanza even during a Republican administration.

By trying to outsmart the Republicans, Baucus has landed his party into what is essentially the political graveyard.

Republicans should be happy that they have achieved a victory without even raising a finger.

Democrats will find their own vote bank shriveling once this Baucus plan goes through.

And they have only themselves to blame as and when their voters abandon them because Democratic party is not a cadre party unlike the Republicans.

The problem with Democratic party is that each of its people representative runs his own small fiefdom and thinks he is the emperor.

Since the party lacks cohesiveness, the top has no control over parochial politics. Most parochial leaders have no sense or sensibility about their party's national stature. They are more interested in winning elections for themselves only.

Democratic drama is full of one-man shows, too bewildering to the viewers.

With no central theme to unify the party, all its actions are ad hoc.

Baucus has already sounded the death knell for his own party at the next Presidential election.

Even if the bill didn't go through, damage among voters is already done, as not all Americans belong to Montana.
Baucus may win again from Montana but most his fellow Democrats won't be that lucky as he has drawn the carpets off from under their own feet.

Sincerity of Democrats about their own election promises to the people now stands exposed.

That should be music to Republican ears.
