Bausch and Lomb Sensitive Eyes Plus Saline Contact Solution: Product Review

Alexis Valentine
I've been a contact lens wearer since the age of 19. I have fairly sensitive eyes and wear soft contact lenses because I've found those to be the best fit for me. One of my favorite, and the only contact solution I will use, is Bausch and Lomb's Sensitive Eyes Plus Saline solution.

Bausch and Lomb's Sensitive Eyes Plus saline contact solution is specially formulated to be gentle, pH-balanced and contains potassium and other ingredients that are naturally found in our own tears. This product can be found in most drug stores, Wal-Mart and Target.

What I like about Bausch and Lomb's Sensitive Eyes Plus Saline solution is that it works wonderfully for my sensitive eyes. Not only are my eyes prone to dryness but I also have allergies. When I get tired my eyes tend to get dry too. Before I started using Bausch and Lomb's Sensitive Eyes Plus Saline solution I'd have problems with dry eyes from extended contact lens wearing and irritation. My eye doctor was the one that recommended Bausch and Lomb's Sensitive Eyes Plus Saline solution to me and I've been using it ever since.

This contact lens solution keeps my eyes moist for all day wear, it doesn't sting or smell funny. I've noticed that with a few other contact lens solutions that my eyes stung a little when I first put in my contact lenses and I'd have to use eye drops in the middle of the day because my eyes would dry out. Bausch and Lomb's Sensitive Eyes Plus Saline solution is a no rubbing solution, which is exactly what it sounds. There's no need to rub your contacts to get debris off or to moisten the lenses. Not only has it worked well for my sensitive eyes but it's also affordable. I believe I pay about $3 for two bottles. Bausch and Lomb's Sensitive Eyes Plus Saline solution usually comes in a two pack deal.

As much as I love Bausch and Lomb's Sensitive Eyes Plus Saline solution there are a few negative aspects to this product that I can think of, really it's just a few. I've noticed that if the solution gets on the outside of a contact lens case and is left there that it will start to develop a little crusting. I've noticed this with other brands too so my guess is that it's not exclusive to Bausch and Lomb's Sensitive Eyes Plus Saline solution. I bring this point up because if you're not careful some of it might get dropped into your contact lenses while you're trying to put them in and that can cause eye irritation. The only real issue I have with this particular contact solution is that it isn't offered in smaller sizes. I do quite a lot of traveling and it's hassle to try to pack a full bottle of contact solution into my toiletry bag. Forget about even carrying it on a plane. With the new liquid restrictions at airports there's no way a full bottle of contact solution will make it pass the entrance in a carry-on bag.

Like I said earlier Bausch and Lomb's Sensitive Eyes Plus Saline solution is my favorite contact solution, and for good reasons. It's a great product for sensitive eyes as well as non-sensitive eyes, it's affordable and I get two for the price of one.
