July 4th is this weekend, and if you're like me, you might be wondering where to take your family to celebrate America's birthday. From combing through the various options around town, I've comprised a list of some of my favorite choices out there if you're looking to have a little fun and fireworks in the Bay Area.


SAN FRANCISCO EVENTS:

Pier 39 Fourth of July Celebration

Featuring music by Mustache Harbor and Tainted Love, the evening of live music and fun concludes with fireworks over the bay.

EAST BAY EVENTS:

Alameda Mayor's Fourth of July Parade

This is the 2nd longest parade in the nation, featuring a full day of racing, parade, and a Jumpin' & Jivin' Jubliee. Plan for an afternoon of games, crafts, jump houses, and more. No fireworks.

Jack London Square July 4th Festival of Family Fun

This event features a petting zoo, stiltwalkers, jugglers, face-painters, clowns, balloon artists, and many more. Children can enjoy art, magic, and hoola hooping, in addition to carnival games and jump houses. Canoe and kayak rentals available. There will also be live music featuring the Big Cat Tolefree Band and the sounds of Eric Bolvin. No fireworks.

USS Hornet Museum 4th of July Party

This event features live music on the flight deck, carnival games, jump houses, exhibits, food, and fireworks.

Lots of entertainment for the kids, including kids rides, inflatable features, and interactive games. There will be plenty of food, live music, and of course, fireworks.

PENINSULA AND SOUTH BAY EVENTS:

San Francisco Symphony

Live performances featuring the voice of Bay Area vocalist Stephanie Harwood and the capable musicality of 15-year-old Nathan Chan on cello. Narrated by George Takei, the evening ends with a dazzling fireworks display set to patriotic songs and marches. Does it get any more American than Mr. Sulu and pyrotechnics?

California's Great America

Enjoy a day of amusement park fun, and stay for one of the largest fireworks display in the Bay Area.

Burgess Park 4th of July Parade and Celebration

The fun begins at 11:30AM with a parade on Santa Cruz Avenue. Continue onto Burgess Park where the celebration comes alive with live music, carnival games, crafts, bounce houses, food, and much more! No fireworks.

Foster City 4th of July Celebration

Spend a day at the park with a full schedule of great activities, including: a pancake breakfast, dog show, family parade, arts and crafts, BBQ, games, and music. Stake a spot on the grass. If you are in the area, the annual fireworks show is not to be missed.

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom

Celebrate a full day of thrilling rides and attractions at the park, with a spectacular fireworks display on two nights. Enjoy a special July 4 picnic, with an all-you-can-eat BBQ of burgers, hot dogs, potato salad, beans, salads, ice cream sandwiches!

Corte Madera/ Larkspur Fourth of July Parade & Festival

Parade is scheduled to leave Redwood High School at 10:30AM. Celebration continues at Corte Madera Town Park, and features arts and crafts, face painting, food, live music, carnival games, and more. No fireworks.
