Bay City Michigan Fireworks Festival 2007

One of the Largest 4th of July Fireworks Displays in the Midwest, the Bay City Fireworks Festival is a Three Day Fun Fest for the Whole Family

Every year the Bay City Fireworks Festival gets bigger and better. With activities for children and adults alike, this festival is fun for the whole family. This year the festival is scheduled for June 30th - July 3rd.

What sets the Bay City Fireworks Festival apart from other July 4th fireworks displays is that you'll enjoy a full three days of festivities. Three days filled with concerts, entertainment, tournaments, kid's activities, carnival rides, military displays, helicopter rides, riverboat cruises and of course, fireworks displays each night with the grand finale display lasting 40 minutes.

Bay City, Michigan is located along the Saginaw Bay on Lake Huron and is divided by the Saginaw River near the downtown area. With so many beautiful locations for boating enthusiasts, the Bay City Fireworks Festival is the ideal venue for boaters who want to enjoy the nightly display of fireworks while on the water. The fireworks are shot off over the Saginaw River so prime viewing spots are plentiful along both banks of the river or in the Middle Grounds park in the South End of Bay City.

The three-day fun fest takes place in the heart of downtown Bay City in the two parks on the west and east banks of the Saginaw River. A complementary shuttle service is available for transportation across the Veteran's Bridge between the two parks.

Wenonah Park, on the east side of the river, features the World Friendship Shell where musical concerts are held throughout the festival with lawn chair seating. Concerts this year will feature a variety of tribute bands to include Paisley Fogg, Bill Haley's Comets, The Kix Band, Dr. Rock and The Bob Seger Tribute Band. Wenonah Park also features the "Kids Korner" where kids are welcome to enjoy crafts and activities for free throughout the festival.

Veteran's Memorial Park, on the west side of the river, will feature the Skerbeck Carnival Midway, Texas Hold'em Poker tournament, Trader's Alley Craft Show and the beverage tent where you'll enjoy nightly entertainment. The Vets Park Stage showcases local bands starting on the afternoon of Saturday, June 30th with a high school "Battle of the Bands," with the KMJ Band and Mickey Thomas "Starship" Band closing the stage on Saturday evening. Local blues favorite the Matt Besey Band is scheduled to perform on Monday, July 2nd. Get your seats early for this outstanding performance.

New this year in both parks will be a "Rock & Rest" Station. Rocking chairs will be provided for mothers and fathers to relax for a bit and rock their children to sleep. This innovative service is provided by the Bay Area Breast Feeding Coalition.

While you're in Bay City, take the time to visit the revitalized downtown shopping district. Historic buildings are being restored and remodeled to accommodate specialty shops and boutiques for your shopping pleasure. One of my favorite shops is My Secret Garden which is an eclectic mix of whimsical outdoor ornamentation and cozy home décor items that will add a unique touch to your living space. Violet Blue and Girlfriends are also fun stores to visit for a unique gift item.

And don't forget the Bay City Antique Mall, the block-long antique store at the heart of the shopping district and surrounded by many smaller antique shops in the area.

Bay City won't leave you hungry either. The Fireworks Festival will feature several local restaurants and food vendors for meals right in the park. Or visit some of the restaurants and cafes in downtown Bay City for a variety of fares.

Whether you come to Bay City for all three days of the festival or just stop by for one day, there will be lots of fun waiting for you.

The cost of the midway (carnival) varies because each carnival ride is priced indivdually just like most midway attractions. Sorry.
