BB King's, so named for BB King who is a partner with owner Danny Bensusan and family, opened in June 2000 and consists of two spaces. The Showcase room is horseshoe shaped with two levels ensuring that every seat is a good seat. Huge video screens on each side of the stage and a 40 foot bar enhance every performance. Lucille's Bar & Grill room, named for BB King's guitar, offers an open dining area with a stage on one side and bar on the opposite wall.
According to corporate chef Chaisith Crook, clientele is about 60% local leaving 40% tourists. Although shorts and tank tops are discouraged, concert fans of all ages enjoy a casual atmosphere.
Featuring both good food and talented bands in an atmosphere of seasoned charm and great acoustics, BB King's has no trouble drawing a diverse range of world class artists. Though primarily a blues and jazz club, BB Kings also features rock, punk, metal and soul. Past shows have included Aretha Franklin, Greg Allman, Bo Diddly, Peter Frampton, Wilson Pickett, James Brown, Little Richard, Steel Pulse, Beach Boys, and BB King himself. Chuck Berry is scheduled for a rocking performance on 2008 New Year's Eve. Concert fans who don't go early may find themselves lining up outside.
Every Saturday from 11 am to 2 pm, patrons in Lucille's room fill up on an all-you-can-eat brunch buffet while traveling into nostalgia with the world renowned Beatles tribute band, Strawberry Fields. Comfort foods like sausage, scrambled eggs, bacon, grits, salad, macaroni and cheese, fried catfish, fried chicken, BBQ chicken wings, collard greens, baked sweet potatoes, fruit cobblers, juices, coffee, and tea are a winner with everyone, not just diners who appreciate the taste of Southern dishes.
A weekly Sunday brunch buffet features the Harlem Gospel Choir and attracts around 300 to 400 guests.
BB King's is fully accessible for the handicapped and located right across the street from the Hilton Times Square and just down the block from the Westin Times Square hotel.
Open daily from 11 am, the full scale restaurant and bar is convenient for tourists looking for good food, great drinks and world class musical talent.
