Tips from the Experts! Celebrity chefs Bobby Flay, Emeril Lagasse and Gordon Ramsey know their way around a grill and are willing to share their BBQ tips with you. Each chef has his own unique take on how grilling and barbequing should be done and although each chef has a different style and unique spin to their dishes, the one thing they agree on is that grilling and barbequing should be a relaxing endeavour.

Bobby Flay's BBQ TI's: Less Is More!
Bobby Flay, author of Boy Meets Grill, tells iVillage Foods that less is more when preparing your foods before grilling. He suggests using simple ingredients such as salt and pepper and also brushing foods with olive oil. According to the article, "elaborate marinades and rubs can dominate the taste of food." He also advises keeping a two level heat on the grill to rotate food to keep heated and to close the lid for anything that needs to cook longer than four minutes. Another tip from Flay is to let the food sit on the grill for a few minutes to give it nice sear marks.

Emeril Lagasse BBQ TIPs: Invest in a Meat Thermometer!
A video clip of Emeril Lagasse found on Kitchen Daily has Lagasse giving us very good BBQ advice including bringing your meat up to room temperature before grilling it, always rotating your foods on the grill to prevent charring and buying a meat thermometer. This will prevent you from undercooking anything on BBQ and rotating the foods will prevent you from burning your food.

Gordon Ramsey BBQ TIPs: Don't BBQ While Drinking!
Chef Ramsey, known for dropping the F* bomb on Hell's Kitchen, suggest men not BBQ at all. He blames them for all the BBQ nightmares that exist, according to an article in Olive Magazine (June, 2006). He also contradicts Lagasse's tip of moving food around the grill. Ramsay says not to move food around the grill and advises not to prod the meat. He also says that if men must BBQ, "if you absolutely must pick up the tongs then don't drink first! You wouldn't have a few drinks and then tackle the Sunday lunch would you?"

I think we have 3 meat thermometers and always use them to check temperatures. If men shouldn't BBQ then who will women blame for flare-ups or crunchy meat??

Good article. I think that men like to BBQ because we like to play with fire, and also we can play with the food while cooking it. Of course the smell is wonderful as well.
