Rose Bowl: Oregon vs. Ohio State
Orange Bowl: Georgia Tech vs. Iowa
Sugar Bowl: Florida vs. Cincinnati
Fiesta Bowl: Boise State vs. TCU
With all the debate lately about whether schools like TCU and Boise State can compete with the top-notch schools from the SEC and other AQ conferences, it doesn't make any sense that the BCS organizers would match TCU and Boise State against each other in the Fiesta Bowl. What so much of America wants to see is these teams play against the top teams from the SEC and Big 10 to give them credibility or show their lack thereof. I guess the people in the BCS just want the debate to continue on without on-field results, which in a way is good, because like most things, as long as people are talking about it, it's gotta be good.
Personally, I think TCU deserves to be in the national championship game against Alabama. They have looked very impressive all season and beat 3 ranked teams along the way, although Clemson has dropped out of the top 25. I fully believe they would have gone 13-0 with Texas's schedule and been even more dominant. Yes, Texas was dominant in pretty much every game except the finale against Nebraska. Anyway, I'm not really complaining about the Longhorns in the title game. It's fully justifiable. They're undefeated and from a more respected conference than any of the other unbeatens, except Alabama. That will indeed be a good game but I'm gonna go out on a limb and pick Alabama by 20 over Texas.
I think all the right teams are in the other BCS games, just not the matchups I would like to see. I would like to see GT against the strong Florida defense but that had virtually no chance of happening with the conference tie-ins. Iowa, however, is also among the nation's top defenses and should make life a little difficult for Paul Johnson's triple-option.
I don't really care who TCU and Boise State were matched up with as long as it's not against each other. I actually did expect the BCS to pick TCU vs. GT and Boise State vs. Iowa. And I expect a lot of fans would prefer those matchups as well. Yes, TCU and Boise are both undefeated and it's one of the few times a bowl game other than the national championship game gets that opportunity, but what does it really mean when these 2 football programs are not nationally respected? Let them earn their respect by playing against Florida or Georgia Tech or Iowa.
