BCS Rankings Week 11: TCU Climbs in New BCS Rankings

The New BCS Rankings Shuffled Up Teams with Alabama Now Ranked #2

Ryan Christopher DeVault
The week 11 BCS rankings are doing the two-step shuffle. The week 11 BCS rankings show that the BCS no longer favors Iowa with most of their computers, and that Alabama has become the new favorite within the computer rankings. Favor from the computers wasn't enough to get to #1 overall though, as Florida continues to be the king of the mountain in the week 11 BCS standings. Following Florida at #1 is Alabama at #2, Texas at #3, and TCU up to #4. TCU made a nice jump to #4 in the latest BCS standings, taking the place of Iowa (who lost) and leap-frogging Cincinnati which remained stuck at #5 in week 11.

Alabama and Florida control the top spot in all of the computer rankings, with three computer picking Florida in the top spot, and three computers also picking Alabama. It came down to the USA Today and Harris Polls to decide who the #1 team would be, and that tie-breaker went to Florida on both accounts. This is really going to set up a great game for the 2009 SEC Championship Game, with both Alabama and Florida on a collision course to be 12-0 when that December game rolls around. It also means that Texas can just wait in the wings, and if they finish undefeated they will get that invite to the BCS Title Game.

Fans of Cincinnati are not going to be happy with the new BCS rankings, but they can't really blame the way the week 11 BCS standings turned out on the BCS. Two computers picked Cincinnati as the second best team in the country, and they would have moved up to replace Iowa if the USA Today Coaches Poll or the Harris Poll had favored them. Instead TCU jumps over them and into the #4 spot by mere decimal points, and breaks into the Top of the BCS standings during a very important week of college football. Cincinnati fans can commiserate with Boise State fans, because Boise State is still down at #6, despite being undefeated on the year.

A couple of teams took big hits in the week 11 BCS rankings, including Iowa that fell from #4 down to #10, and Notre Dame which fell right out of the BCS standings. LSU lost but actually went up in the BCS standings, so nothing is what it seems when it comes to games in college football this season. USC is also back into the Top 10 after a win over a weak Pac-10 opponent. Then there is Oregon, which destroyed their hopes at the BCS Title with a loss over the weekend. Things are shaking up by the week, and the coming weeks are certainly going to be interesting to see how this year's BCS rankings turn out in the end.

I almost want Texas or USC to move up, I am so tired of hearing about Forida.

Texas played University of CENTRAL FLORIDA - I'm sure the Knights do not appreciate your error!
