BCS Ranks LSU as No. 1 in First Poll Released
The first Bowl Championship Series (BCS) Poll for the 2011 season came out on Sunday night, October 16, 2011, giving the Louisiana State University Tigers a No. 1 ranking. The announcement took place live on ESPN at 7:00 pm. Central Standard Time.
The LSU Tigers have been sitting at the No. 1 on the Associated Press (AP) Poll for the past four weeks. The LSU team delivered a solid win over Tennessee last week with a 38-7 victory. It was the largest win over Tennessee in LSU's history.
Also making the Top 5 in the BCS poll is Alabama, coming in at No. 2 in the BCS Poll. Alabama and LSU will face each other on Saturday, November 5, 2011 in Tuscaloosa, AL. This is a much anticipated game by all football fans that may have lingering doubts as to which SEC powerhouse team is really the best-Alabama or LSU?
The BCS Polls are determined by several factors, and not by individual member votes. The BCS Poll takes the Harris Interactive Poll, the USA Today Coaches Poll and the average from six computer rankings into consideration when determining the collegiate rankings. This week LSU came out on top.
