There is nothing more stressful then giving someone a gift card just for that person to find out there is nothing on it. Be very aware of this matter cause it is happening all the time, but most often during the Christmas Season. You might ask how is this done when it's a gift cards? It is done when thieves come in the store and steal the card's numbers and the personal ID code number. This situation is getting difficult day by day.

It use to be safe and easy to purchase a gift card, but not anymore. You will have to be very careful when you purchase a gift card. Note that if you are in a store and you have easy access to the gift cards then so will the thieves. They get all the information off the cards and then once you buy it, and activate it, the thief will make purchases with however much money that you have put up there. The thief's will make there purchases online so it will near impossible for you to track your money down.

There are ways that this want happen to you by just being more careful where you are buying your gift cards. Never buy a card that has very easy access to the shoppers. Every shopper is not an ordinary shopper and only comes for one reason only to steal. Nowadays they are making gift cards in protective packages if the seal is broken on torn don't buy it. Never buy cards online where the risk of fraud is very high. Buying a gift card online your chances are very great for having a empty card once it has gotten to you.

If the gift cards are located behind the counter then this could be a safe card to purchase. Note that you will have to ask the cashier for the card and in most cases the cashier will ask how much do you want on the card before giving it to you. This is a great for for retailers to prevent card scams. To be completely sure know that the numbers on the sales receipt matches.

If the sales receipt don't match then there had been a honest mistake or a very untruthful cashier. Lastly when getting your card be sure that if it's a card that you have to scratch off to see the personal identification, be sure that it hasn't been neatly scratched off or tampered with. It is always wise to be alert of different scams daily, but be more alert more often during the Christmas Holiday and any busy season.
