Be Careful, Be Careful, Be Careful

Ed Robbins
Be careful, be careful, be careful
It's all I'm ever told
At the end of conversations
From the young, the weak and old

Nice to meet you
How do you do?
Sounds decietful
Never a clue

Poisoned rhymes will burn like spines
Pricked into our flesh
Dastard crimes to dollared fines
A tangle in the mesh

It's such a mal condition
It's such a wheathered state
An interest in remission
And all the things you hate

Careful is as careful does
I'm careful to the bone
I'm careful when I try to see you
Careful walking home

As I am so cautious
About what I say and do
I wonder why you tell me lies
When yearning for the truth

One day this sad time will pass
And I will not have known
Just what it was you had in mind
By leaving me alone

So careful as you walk on in
Careful as you sit
Careful as you blow your nose
Careful as you spit

The world is violent
Mean and tough
It will crush you like a can
Things jump out
An aching doubt
The whithering of a man

Goodby to you
Bon Voyage
Careful on the way out
Careful as you stop and go
Careful as you shout.
