Be Exceptional

Don't Dwell - Let it Go

Donna H. Davey
Once a problem has been confronted and the issue resolved, it's over - let it go. Don't dwell on every word ever said, or any perceived affront, because that kind of negativity only enrages people and they will point fingers, which puts the other party on the defensive. Is being right, at least in a matter of opinion, really worth the cycle of anger that ensues? I can't count the number of times people have hurt me, but I have a forgiving heart and I let it all go. Holding on to the wrongs that have been done to me does not help me out one bit, it only leaves festering bitterness and you know what? I'm better than to indulge that kind of weakness. It takes a lot more strength and integrity to forgive and to let something go than to keep irritating the scab, which anyone can do.

The bottom line is that some people communicate only to win, to set themselves up as superior. To that end they blame. I'm wise enough to know I'm not superior to anyone. I'm just me, faults and all, so welcome to the human race. Need some grace? I know I do. So forgive, and be happy.

Beautiful. I love it when you said, "I'm just me faults and all".

Beautiful picture, beautiful thoughts. I find it hard to forgive, forget, let go and move on with issues that were never resolved or brought me dire consequences. Like you, I know I have warts, but I do console myself as being the "bigger person" or superior, because I would not inflict that kind of pain on others.
