Be a Green Camper!

Assembly Nexus
Camping is probably the essence of total family fun and bonding. There is something about Mother Nature and staying outdoors under the stars that can provide some great moments. Green camping is the latest method of camping, where campers are aware and discerning, and they treat the environment as the fragile thing it is today.
With today's problem of global warming and increasing damage to the environment, it is important to decrease one's impact on the environment, and not to leave anything behind: neither your trash, nor your carbon footprint. In fact, leaving no trace behind can be the best thing you can do to your planet, especially if you plan to return to it again at a later time.

Ok, we all know enough to not leave trash behind and to pick up after ourselves. But how many of us pick up after someone else who was there before us? Ignoring what has been left behind by someone else does not do anything for the environment; pick up after your predecessor, and leave nothing behind. Always make sure you carry plastic garbage bags with you to store your trash until such time as you can dispose of it conveniently.

Recycle whatever you can, and try to use only things that CAN be recycled after use. Also use equipment that is solar energy powered, and while cooking, try to use an open fire and not gas. Try to use unbreakable crockery and cutlery, but avoid plastic. Do not try to avoid washing up after yourself by using plastic throw away utensils: these can damage the environment considerably.

Try to avoid tying your dog to a tree: this can damage the bark and cause the premature death of the tree. Instead, bring along a drive in stake and tie your dog to it. Do not strip bark off a tree or even collect the fallen twigs around you for firewood; bring along your own. Try to stay within the site's boundaries, and on the existing paths; venturing inside uncharted territories can actually damage the fragile environment.
