If you have pet insurance, you might want to check with different animal hospitals that you might use in an emergency to be sure they accept your insurance or credit card. Emergency pet care will probably not be cheap.
The animal hospitals listed all offer a variety of veterinarian services, such as vaccination clinics, surgery, dentistry, parasite control and regular checkups. Not all have 24 hour emergency numbers if something happens to your pet out of office hours. If you have the opportunity to visit a veterinary hospital or clinic in your area, you can ask if they have a number for emergencies outside of office hours. There's a chance your regular vet will come into the office to see your pet in an emergency. If not, they will probably be able to recommend a vet who will.
Pet Emergency Clinics in Ventura is open outside normal office hours and closed when your regular vet is open.

Post a CommentAwww I love that you are watching out for our animal companions in this article!
We've had to deal with a few pet emergency room visits over the years. It can be very stressful. Thanks for your excellent advice.
I've faced two pet emergencies within two months. The first with my cat Jake ended in tragedy, as he died at home, and the second two months later resulted in rushing our other cat Samson to a pet hospital for emergency treatment. Thankfully, he survived. Dealing with a pet emergency can be overwhelming and it is so distressing.

Good advice. I can remember rushing a cat to a vet at 2 am when I was a kid. He ate a needle from a spool of thread he swiped off the table. He lived.
Oh the pix are wonderful. And of course the article is very helpful, thanks.
Good to know.
Neat article..well written
A pet first-aid kit is also a good idea. It should include a muzzle or restraint in case you have to transport an injured animal.
Good information.
Such good info, Rachel! You never know when an emergency will occur (believe me, I know)!
