Be Prepared to Show Your Papers to Prove Your Status in Arizona

Immigration Reform

Kurt Evans
If you're in or anywhere near the state of Arizona, you had better be prepared to show your papers to prove your status in the state of Arizona.

Arizona

Governor Jan Brewer, of Arizona, made it illegal, in Arizona, to not carry papers with you that prove, that you have the right to be on U.S. soil.

United States Of America

I see this law as a major setback for the United States of America and I don't think that it does anything to help with immigration reform.

Freedom

We live in a country that was founded by immigrants and part of what makes this country great is the fact that there is freedom in this country; freedom of expression, freedom of choice, freedom of thought etc.

I'm An Illegal Immigrant

The things that make this law look stupid are the fact that you cannot tell who is an illegal immigrant and who is not, just by looking at them. This law assumes that people walk around with signs around their neck that say," I'm an illegal immigrant."

Discrimination

This law opens up the door to discrimination against many ethnic groups by law enforcement. The look of an American citizen comes in all colors, shapes, and sizes. It is impossible to tell if a person has a right to be on U.S. soil by just looking at them.

Languages

Many people in America, who are U.S. citizens, have the ability to speak multiple languages, besides English.

Law Enforcement

This law in Arizona, will not only be an additional burden on law enforcement, it will be an additional drain on resources in the court system as well; further crowding this countries prisons with unnecessary burdens which will, ultimately cost the tax payer more money.

Ashamed To Be An American

As if this country doesn't already have enough laws to enforce, one more stupid law like this, which actually makes things worse, makes me ashamed to be an American.

thanks for that....the law is pushing us back in time....and when you go to other countries, people speak English and a lot of other languages....half of the Americans don't even speak correct English!

It's simply far too vague and too many opportunities to be taken advantage of. Good points here.

How about securing the boarders? This law is not the answer.

I have my papers for anyone who needs to see them - this is not about immigration, it is about 'Illegal immigration'. The AZ immigration law is also a bit similar to Mexico's immigration laws. Why do they get to control who gets into their country and we can't? I personally want to know who comes here so we can minimize accepting murderers, rapists and the like. Not to mention disease control. There are tons of reasons why we need to have people go through the right channels before we welcome them with open arms. Immigrants that stand in line and come here the right way show they have respect for our laws and want to be part of the American dream.

Does this mean you have to show your birth certificate? Because I surely don't carry my birth certificate in my wallet.
