You should take time, on a regular basis, to think about all the things that you have to be grateful for. Don't make it a chore, but think about it when you can. No matter how bad off you are, there are always things to be grateful for.
You can be grateful that you found the strength to accept your faults, and work to improve. You can be grateful for the home you have, the people in your life, and whatever money you may have. There are always things to be thankful for.
When you think of these things, don't get sidetracked by the thoughts of how it could be better. Enjoy the feeling of having what you have. With any luck, there's much better headed your way in the future, but for now, be thankful for what you have, and never take anything for granted. If you're ungrateful about what you have, it may just be taken away.
Give it Your All
When you put yourself on the path to a better life, you have to give it all you've got. It's not going to be easy, but it's going to be worth it. You have to put your heart and soul into getting what you want in order to make it happen.
In the beginning, it is going to be easy to fall back into your old ways. You may go back to those thoughts of not being good enough, not having what you want, and you may be tempted to focus on how things aren't happening for you. You need to get these thoughts out of your head as quickly as you can. You need to always have faith in yourself and your ability to do what you have set out to do.
When you set out to make your life better, you really need to put your energy into it. It's easy to say "I'll work on that tomorrow" but tomorrow never comes. Every single day, without fail, you need to work on some aspect of bettering yourself. Even if all you do is realize that you need to keep working. You need to do whatever it takes to stay motivated, and keep working toward your goals.
