Are you going on a date to the beach? Whether you're about to soak in some rays or watch the sun go down, try some of these beach date ideas with that someone special.

Beach date ideas for the sun worshippers

If you're heading to the beach for the day, pack a cooler. It's one more thing to lug to the beach, but you won't regret it after a couple of hours in the sweltering sun. Layer the bottom of the cooler with ice. Consider packing some bottled water (or your favorite energy drink) and dice up some fruit. Fresh fruit and cold water go over very well together in the hot sun. If watermelon or pineapple is your choice of fruit, consider bringing a couple of toothpicks. Other beach date ideas include packing some flavored ices. They are simple snacks and fun to eat. One rule of thumb is to not pack anything that is potentially messy.

Besides packing a cooler, there are plenty of fun beach date ideas to consider. Rent a pair of wave runners (jet skis) or rent one wave runner and ride together, rent a paddle boat or similar type of boat where the two of you can cruise around, fly a kite, play some paddle ball, do some quizzes from women's or men's magazines - these can spurn some interesting conversation, or maybe consider bringing a compact, travel game like Uno or Scrabble.

Beach date ideas at sunset

For those romantics, beach date ideas at sunset are right up your alley. When the sun starts to go down, bring a blanket and a basket of eats for a picnic. Complement your picnic with a bottle of wine. Don't forget the bottle opener and two wine glasses. Some great eats to pack are cheese and crackers, finger foods such as spring rolls, chicken fingers, or maybe some quesadillas. Anything other than finger foods will probably require utensils. You can incorporate some candles, but since ocean breezes are common, consider some covering candle holders and don't forget a lighter. There's something special about sipping a glass of wine while watching the sun go down.

Other beach date ideas at sunset include walking down the beach near the water - leave your foot attire behind, look for interesting and unique shells, bring a guitar if you play, watch fire works on the fourth of July, build a small bonfire (only if the beach permits), and if it's later in the evening search for stars and constellations.

Whatever you do with these beach date ideas, have fun, be safe, and enjoy yourselves.
