Beach Engagement Party Ideas Using a Jaws Theme

Anne Wright
Plan your beach engagement party using a Jaws theme. These are 5 shark-infested ideas in anticipation of your beach wedding.

Jaws Theme Music for your Beach Engagement Party: Play that ominous segment from the soundtrack, and you'll have no trouble getting your guest's attention at key moments. They'll get out of the water fast when you want them to gather around for the toasts and speeches. It's probably won't be of much use for a beach wedding, and no one ever said you could dance to it.

Toy Sharks for your Beach Engagement Party: Get some toy sharks for decorations. People can pose with them for photos, or they can just lurk around in the background and give people an excuse to yell shark. Target has an inflatable white shark pool toy for just $15.99. If you're indoors you can get some stuffed toy sharks too.

Jaws Poster for your Beach Engagement Party Photos: The 1975 movie remains so popular you can get a print of the poster for as little as $3.29 at Amazon. It's a big 2 feet by 3 feet so put it up on any wall or cardboard backing, and you can use it as a backdrop for photos anywhere. Naturally, budget model shark cages would be a very bad idea so they're really not affordable. It would still be funny to Photoshop a shark cage around some guest photos.

Jaws Theme Buffet for your Beach Engagement Party: Like the movie said, it was the perfect feeding ground. Focus on food and drinks that are blood red in color. You can add in other stuff to make it more palatable, but serve some strawberries, beets, tomatoes, and red licorice. Make your toasts with a bright red wine. Decorate the buffet table with fake amputated body parts like this plastic severed leg ($6.99).

Temporary Shark Tattoos for your Beach Engagement Party: Temporary tattoos are great for cheap party favors as well as easy decorations. You can use them on your skin or any smooth surface. Decorate a plain paper tablecloth for your buffet table or put some temporary shark designs on cheap drinking glasses. Even though they fade quickly, you should avoid using them on surfaces you don't want to risk staining. Amazon has a book with 8 designs for just $1.50.

Enjoy a Jaws theme for your beach engagement party, and you can still go in the water at your beach wedding.
