Ann Siper
Looking for a great handmade beach wedding favor gift? Well, hand made soaps in Lighthouse designs are a fun wedding favor gift that is easy to make. The best part of this fun handmade gift is that one size fits all!

Making hand made Lighthouse shaped soap is very easy. Even if you have never made soap before, you should be able to easily complete this simple nautical wedding favor project in less than 2 hours. You should expect to pay about $15 - $20 for materials, but you can get a lot of small Lighthouse soaps out of one batch.

Anyone can help with this simple Lighthouse shaped soap craft, but they will need a lot of supervision because you will be working with hot materials. I might reserve this project for teenagers and adults.

To make some Nautical Wedding favor Lighthouse Soaps You Will Need:

Lighthouse Cookie Cutters 1 lb Block of Heat and Pour Soap

Essential Oils (optional, but go for cinnamon or rose for a little romance if you choose to!)

1 microwave safe measuring cup or bowl
clay
wax paper
knife

1lb blocks heat and pour soap is available at craft supply stores in glycerin or coconut base. It is a simple product to work with a very affordable.

Essential Oil, which is optional, is also available at almost any craft or art supplier store. You can buy great smelling essential oils for almost any smell you want. You can even mix and match varieties for a new smell.

Essential oils are great if you want to add a tropical fragrance to the soap like coconut, vanilla, melon, eucalyptus, or even cinnamon.

Now, the first step is to roll out clay on a piece of wax paper. You want to set the Lighthouse cookie cutter in the clay but do not cut all the way through.

Now, Cut your one-pound soap block into 1" squares. Next, place it into a microwave safe cup. You want to melt it for 15 seconds on high. If soap is not completely melted microwave in 5-second increments until fully melted. It is important to not overheat your soap block material.

Now, Allow soap to sit for a minute until a skin forms on top. Next you should push away the skin mix in a few drops of fragrance oil if you want to.

Now for the fun, pour soap into the Lighthouse shaped cookie cutter mold in the clay. You can use air-drying clay or regular old clay, it does not matter. You might be able to use leftover play dough if the kids have any. You are basically trying to create a shape that the candle soap material can dry in and don't leak out of.

The Lighthouse soaps will need to sit for at least 2 hours to dry and cure. I recommend letting them sit for at least 3 to 5 hours if you have the time.

Tip: Before removing the Lighthouse cookie cutter put into the freezer for 10 minutes to make removing the Cowboy Boot cookie cutter easier.

You need to Remove the clay from around the Lighthouse cookie cutter and press the soap out from the Lighthouse cookie cutter mold.

Slice the clay off with a knife. You can also use a paring knife to trim any rough edges.

Tips:

While the melted soap is still liquid you can add fun ingredients. Flower petals and rose petals are great additions.

You can package your soaps in individual small gift boxes or bags. I find them all the time at arts and crafts store and even the Container Store. Lay some shredded colorful paper into the bottom of the gift box. Fill it with a layer of your handmade Lighthouse soaps. Tie it shut with a beautiful ribbon and you have a wonderful handmade gift.

This simple gift is great for a beach wedding favor.
