Bear Creek Company is a popular manufacturer of a variety of soup mixes. Some include that of cheddar potato, navy bean and chili, but one of my favorites is that of their creamy wild rice.
Preparing Bear Creek's Creamy Wild Rice Soup Mix
The creamy wild rice mix makes about seven to eight bowls of a delicious soup and is very easy to make. Simply boil eight cups of water and stir in package mix. It takes only ten minutes to prepare, but, it's important to continuously stir the soup to avoid sticking.
Although the soup is very tasty, it is not very filling on it's own. If looking to make this soup the core of your meal, try some of the following variations.
1. Add chicken, ham, ground beef or turkey. Adding a meat to the soup will make it quite a bit more substantive. Meats are also known to add flavor to almost any soup. To ensure that the soup is not overcooked, prepare the meat separately, and add in water along with soup mixture.
2. Add a hardy vegetable. A vegetable or combination of vegetables can also add to the hardiness of a soup. Some suggestions include broccoli, carrots, celery or asparagus.
3. Add other items. For more flavor and variety, consider adding one or more other items such as mushrooms, white/green onions or slivered almonds.
4. Add 1/4 cup of heavy cream. For a more homemade taste, add about 1/4 cup of heavy cream to the soup.
Serve Creamy Wild Rice Soup Mix
To complete the meal, serve with a side or fruit salad, and a tasty bread (such as garlic or cornbread). For variety, opt for a muffin instead of traditional bread. Some complimentary choices might be a bran, apple cinnamon, carrot or zucchini.
It is also important to note that this soup is make with both milk and soy.
