The town of Shelbyville, Indiana will host the annual Bears of Blue River Festival beginning August 20 thru August 22, 2010. This year will be the 31st annual festival held on the public square in downtown Shelbyville. Located about 20 miles southeast of Indianapolis on I-74 this makes a fun day trip for families or individuals.

Friday will begin with a pancake and sausage breakfast in the downtown food tent on the pubic square. This will be sponsored by the Shelbyville Lions Club. Friday at 10:00 a.m., the Shelby Silver Dance Troupe from Shelby Senior Services will begin the entertainment on the Bears of Blue River mobile stage on the public square. At 11:00 a.m. lunch will be sponsored by the Optimists of Shelby County with a taco salad luncheon. And a fried chicken dinner will be sponsored by D.A.R.E. starting at 5:00 p.m. Starting at 6:30 pm. entertainment will be provided on the downtown stage.

Saturday will be the traditional Dinner Under the Stars on the Public Square with cocktails at 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 7:00 p.m. The Little Blues Band will provide music before and during dinner. Then the Zanna-Doo Band will play dance music starting at 8:00 p.m. Saturday morning will be the walk/run and then kid's activities with Silly Safari. At 1:00 p.m. will be a corn hole tournament.

Sunday is the big day with the Bears of Blue River Parade. Starting at 1:00 pm at the fairgrounds, traveling Frank Street, Morris Avenue, Vine Street, Washington Street and around the public square to the intersection of Miller Street. The theme for this years parade it "Up, Up and Away." Kevin Gregory, Channel 6 meteorologist will be the parade marshall. The parade will feature 100-plus entries, including high school marching bands, floats, horses, mini-cars and lots more.
