Bears' Rashied Davis in Forefront of Players Working Out During Lockout
Just Another Reason to Keep Him
While Rashied Davis is not a starter at the moment he has been and there is no player who has more desire day in and day out. Further Davis is a team player. When he is asked to go over the middle he does. When he is asked to block, he blocks. And as aforementioned he is a sterling special teams player.
Actually it was Caleb Hanie who asked Davis about playing catch to stay in shape. While Hanie is well acquainted with Davis, Davis is well acquainted with Johnny Knox and Devin Hester.
According to Davis the hitch that the players have is practicing passing routes. As you probably know the players are currently locked out so they cannot play at the practice facility. Therefore they must find a field that is large enough to accommodate their scattering all over the field to effectively practice.
It is somewhat surprising that Davis is interested in practicing. His future with the Bears is not cast in concrete. He is an unrestricted free agent and he is a good player. Of course they also have to worry about the labor dispute. Players and owners have both filed lawsuits that have slowed down the negotiations much to the chagrin of fans.
A promising venue for Davis and company is Allstate Arena. This is where Davis played Arena football before being drafted by the NFL.
It seems to me the Bears should be looking at this man's dedication to the team and the sporting level. It's no wonder that he is great on Special Teams.
Davis' attempt to organize workouts is just another reason to keep him."
