Beat Summer Gas Prices

Still Have Some Family Fun

Beat Summer Gas Prices

With gas prices hovering at a record high of almost $4.089 for the national average, what is a family man to do with his brood on the weekends for a nice family outing of fun. Keeping it local has proven to be a great option. Near to my home of Cleveland, Georgia is a tourist town of Helen, Georgia and tonight I took to opportunity to revisit it and look up some of the new sites. As Helen is only about 8 miles from my home with gas, dinner at a fast-food or pizza and some local entertainment the evening for a family of 5 could be less than $50.00.

Walking through Helen, we found place called the Spa-Capsule. Wonderful little shop that offers massages in the spa-capsule this excellent massage machine operating with waterjet pressure massage. They also offer free foot massages with these machines that invigorate you like you never have been before, after the first 30 seconds I was hooked and could have stayed there the rest of the evening. Great place to visit, excellent place to spend your money as they have many massage items for sale to give you more energy and improve your outlook on life. Take my advice and enjoy the 20 minute spa-capsule massage.

Next we found Das Leather a great shop with all of those exhilarating smells of fresh cut leather. They have items of all types from slave collars to full dress biker leather. Belts, novelty, jewelry, patches, T-shirts, sexy apparel and most other things associated with leather. They even have a closed off back room area with adult novelty items for those couples wishing to spice up their night life. Das Leather a definite stopping spot in Helen.

Then we made it to this little side street, on it was an old factory/warehouse. This was turned into a wonderful attraction of 4 business's. 1st you see the Antique Carriage & Buggy Museum at which I was able to see the 1958 Cadillac M&M Combo Limo Hearse/Ambulance, that was used to carry Ty Cobb in 1961. Next in this center is an indoor go cart track, excellent opportunity to brush up on those racing skills. 3rd in line is the "I Remember When" theater in which you can catch an excellent Elvis impersonator everyday.

Last but not least, and above all my favorite is "Haunted Helen", the year round haunted house. The spooks/actors;

Stephanie Ricketson ~ Manager/Guide

Kay Ricketson ~ Front Office/Witch

Vann Paxical ~ Manager/Guide

Bobby Winters ~ Lady/Elvira/Vampire

William Worrelles ~ Leather Face

Tyler Rex ~ Rotting Zombie

Jessica Manar ~ Vampire/Guide

Amy Walar ~ Ring Girl/Guide

These kids, and I say kids as they are probably all under 25 except Kay in the front office who is my age and mother to Stephanie, put on one "HELL" of a show. Their costumes, props, atmosphere and professionalism is top notch and makes this one enjoyable visit for those who like the wits scared out of them.

The tour is about 20 minutes long and starts out with the story of how the place got haunted, then you follow a maze of rooms and chambers filled with one horror and scare after another, enough that even seasoned haunted house viewers will be scared. This is about all I will tell you about the tour so as not to ruin the surprise for you.

For all of my local readers, keep it local and beat the summer gas price blues. Visit the place I have mentioned above. For my out-of-town readers when you get this way, visit all of the places I mentioned, Especially "HAUNTED HELEN"........

Frank WOLF gives it a 5 howl award....

As always pt the wind in your hair and keep the sun to your back. Peace, Love & Prosperity.

Good Journey!
