Beautiful Moth

April Higney
Each night another sunset,

to the day, the quiet sunrise.

New life emerges,

the moth flutters through the skies.

Does it contain such beauty,

as the butterfly may hold?

A camouflage of the owl's eyes,

upon its wings, protects it from becoming prey,

as nature begins to unfold.

Of tattered wings, browning,

like leaves curled and crisp upon the ground,

perhaps this is truly beautiful,

the beauty hidden, that hasn't yet been found.

Ironic as life can be,

seeing beauty as just what we want to see,

setting aside with blinded eye,

only seeing the colors of the butterfly,

and another beauty hides safely amongst the branches on the tree.
