Beautiful Nightmares

Sleep Falling

bw Frampton

Let us tell a tale

Of wickedness...

A dream so loud, it rings the ears

and awakens those who sleep beside us.

Such beautiful nightmares!

Vivid pictures within our heads

That make us glad to open our eyes

in the morning.

Such horrible, beautiful nightmares

that make ice water seep from our pores -

Are you drowning?

Are you falling?

Will you wake

with that lump in your belly

that only comes from fear?

Will you wake

knowing that your head is on the pillow still?

Or will you die in your bed

after touching the green, green grass

from your rapid, screamless descent from above?

Oh, those wonderful nightmares we have

in the world that is ours alone...
