Beautiful People
Beautiful people-
They are so hard to find,
Yet when they are found
They are found hurting.
I've noticed this...
these past days.
There are people you wish
you could have known all your life;
I see me in you and you in me.
You've been hurt so much,
So many times.
The center of this
A Beautiful child...
I know so few beautiful people.
Once I find one,
It's hard to say good-bye;
So I'll just say
I Love you!

My notes say I wrote this for a new friend I found in a group home setting in 1975. We even shared the same first name. We didn't stay in contact but I know she must have had a great impact on my time spent there. Reading this again I realize I have felt this way about many people throughtout my life and even now!

Aly, I can tell that your daughter has found a treasure indeed in those long stashed away letters. They are a glimpse into past selves which is still a part of us. I find I am learning from these old poems.

All three of you are in the beautiful people category to me, as many others here on AC are. I wonder of the creators of AC know just how much of a treasure they have allowed us to create here.
Isn't that amazing! That to me is the beauty of writing - to record your feelings and learn years later what it really meant at the time. My daughter said the other day that she found some letters I wrote to her when she was a little delinquent devil in high school. She said," Gee, Mom - I didn't realize at the time how right you were. I just thought you were mean then." Hopefully, going back to those letters will help her prepare to be a better Mother. I loved your piece. I love all your work. Thanks for sharing.
Teresa, i know what you mean..beautifully said!!!....there are a lot of beautiful people out there...the problem is that we sometimes don't get to really know them because of how they react to us..due to their own baggage they are holding....long term friend i only can count on my one hand..one thing i must say...i have found a lot of beautiful people here on AC..and that is no bs..it's been an eyeopener for me..and i can see..you are one those beautiful people..peace, love, harmony!!!
